The Magic of the Silletero - Colombian Artwork Metal prints

The silleteros are magical characters, an ecosystem in motion, man and nature in harmony. They carry on their back their treasure, a great variety of tropical flowers. This particular silletero travels with nine zebra butterflies that approach attracted by the scent of their flowers.
Its origin is so remote that it is difficult to say a date, but they say that a long time ago Colombian peasants came down from the mountain carrying a saddle full of flowers to sell in the plaza.

The tradition has transcended the decades and is still practiced today. Entire families teach their sons and daughters the art of planting and caring for gardens full of beautiful flowers. The silleteros of Santa Elena are part of the intangible tradition of this region of Antioquia and a symbol of the city of Medellín.
